Northern Virginia is a great place to live because just a short 3 1/2 hour drive and you are in Virginia Beach the home of the Rock N Roll 1/2 Marathon. Every Labor Day Weekend 20,000 plus runners run this fun flat course. With live bands and cheerleaders cheering you on it is about as fun as 13.1 miles can be. :) I also love the fact that the course is entirely flat except for one small hill over the bridge which brings you into the home stretch. An added bonus for many is the free beer that you get at the finish line! All racers also get to go to a free concert the evening of the race. This year it was the Black Crowes.
